Trevor Murdoch on The Colóns: “I don’t Care About Your Last Name or What Titles You’ve Won”

The Colóns are on a hot streak — but not everyone seems impressed!

Since arriving in the National Wrestling Alliance, Primo and Epico have remained undefeated. On the Feb. 6 NWA Powerrr, the team notched another significant victory.

Whether it moves the cousins closer to title contention is yet to be seen. What is certain, though, is the victory over Size Matters — the team of Sam Stackhouse and his partner Eric Smalls, a close friend of Mike Knox and Trevor Murdoch — has them on the NWA World Tag Team Champions’ radar.

“The Colóns are a great team and have won championships all over the world,” states Murdoch, who with partner Knox currently holds the NWA World Tag Team Titles. That said, he’s not convinced they’ve yet earned a crack at NWA gold.

“I know their resume — everyone does,” said Murdoch, “But I’ll be damned if anyone is gonna just waltz in and expect to challenge for the most legendary tag titles in pro wrestling history right off the bat!”

Members of a prolific wrestling family, Primo and Epico are globally recognized competitors. The son and nephew, respectively, of iconic Puerto Rican grappler and multiple-time challenger for “The Ten Pounds of Gold” Carlos Colón, the duo are former WWE World Tag Team Champions.

“I don’t care about your last name or which titles you’ve won in the past,” Murdoch says. “In the National Wrestling Alliance, you earn title shots!”

“I don’t want to call them ‘outsiders,’ but they sure as hell aren’t ‘NWA guys’ yet,” says the two-time former World’s Heavyweight Champion, who claimed the 2023 Crockett Cup with Knox before winning the World Tag titles in June 2024.

“We’ve got our eyes on Kratos and Odinson — The Immortals — and even Talos and Daisy Kill,” Murdoch shares.

“Those boys have been kicking ass for a long time right here in the National Wrestling Alliance,” he points out. “So if Primo and Epico want a chance at these belts, I suggest they pick up a few wins over those teams or get in line!”

Eventually, the Colóns will earn a tag title shot, Murdoch suspects. When they do, he offers the veteran duo a strong suggestion: “Step it the [expletive] up,” he declares emphatically.

“Primo and Epico have faced the top teams all over the world, but they’ve never faced a team like Knox & Murdoch,” he says, a smile failing to mask just how serious he is.

“We take being NWA World Tag Team champions very seriously,” the champ says definitively. “The only way any team is going to take these belts is if they pry them out of our cold, dead hands!”
