World TV Champ Carson Bartholomew Drake Hints At Plot To Claim ‘Ten Pounds of Gold’

Carson Bartholomew Drake calls himself “the most successful man in the National Wrestling Alliance.”

While there is evidence to support his claim, others would instead consider him to actually just be the luckiest in the NWA. Either way, CBD is a champion…and already looking to the future!

At Samhain 2, Drake’s braggadocio paid dividends. In a move that shocked many, the NWA Exodus Pro transplant defeated the dominant force that is Max the Impaler, capturing the revered NWA World Television title in the process.

“In my opinion: It has to be the upset of the year,” admits Joe Galli, NWA’s Chief Operating Officer.

“Honestly, I don’t know anyone except Carson Drake who thought he would walk out with the belt,” Galli continues, “But he did — and we might never hear the end of it!”

“Even before we stepped into the ring at Samhain 2, in my mind I’d already defeated Max the Impaler,” rebuts the new champ, showcasing one of the many reasons critics consider him arrogant on full display.

Pro wrestling isn’t just a physical sport, it’s a mental one!
— Carson B. Drake, NWA World TV Champion

“Pro wrestling isn’t just a physical sport, it’s a mental one as well,” boasts CBD. “I outsmarted that brainless beast from ‘The Wastelands’… and ‘fans’ who thought I’d never become the NWA World Television Champion, well, now they will know what a real champion is all about!”

Whether by luck or skill, the self-professed “smartest champion in the NWA” now benefits from the title’s “Lucky Seven” clause. Should Drake successfully defend the strap seven times, he can “cash in” for a guaranteed shot at “The Ten Pounds of Gold.”

“The ‘clause’ actually states the champion must retain during seven defenses,” corrects Drake. Doubling-down on this distinction, the clever competitor perhaps reveals the title's value in the bigger picture.

“Whether I retain by pinfall, submission, defeat my opponents by countout or my challenger simply cannot pin me within the 6:05 TV time limit does not matter!” he declares.

“As the NWA World Television champion, all count equally toward the ‘Lucky Seven,’” he points out with a smile. “And facts being facts, no matter who steps in the ring with me will learn the same thing Max did: you CAN’T beat ME. ANY win from here on puts Carson Bartholomew Drake one step closer to the NWA World’s Heavyweight title!”

The NWA World TV champion next heads to Florida on Feb. 2. He's slated to appear at Tampa’s WEDU Studios for NWA Powerrr…LIVE! on February 2

From there, the National Wrestling Alliance rolls on to Dothan, AL. The NWA Signature Live Event Hard Times V comes to the Dothan Civic Center on March 22. Tickets are on sale now.
