NWA Star Ruthie Jay Declares: ‘I’m So Tired of Hanging Out With Losers!’
“The Five-Star Athlete doesn’t lose!” It's a new attitude for once-popular National Wrestling Alliance star Ruthie Jay.
A recent loss to Pretty Empowered pushed Ruthie to her breaking point. After falling short against NWA Women's World Champion Kenzie Paige and her sister Kylie, an enraged Jay blamed La Rosa Negra for the loss, viciously assaulting her partner on NWA Powerrr.
“I am so tired of hanging out with losers like La Rosa Negra!” said the competitor emphatically when asked to explain the post-match attack and dissolution of the tag team Caribbean Flow.
“From this point on, Ruthie Jay comes first; winning comes first; becoming an NWA champion comes first,” she continues. “If so-called ‘friends’ like La Rosa don’t have my drive to win, I don’t want them in my life!”
“I’m ‘The Five-Star Athlete,’ the most naturally gifted woman in the National Wrestling Alliance today. I should be a champion! Instead, I’ve been carrying around dead weight like La Rosa Negra!”
It’s a dramatic shift for the once-smiling, always-happy grappler from Trinidad. Prior to the violent falling out, Ruthie Jay was one of the most beloved competitors on the National Wrestling Alliance roster.
“And what did that get me?!” gripes Jay, noting she has yet to win NWA gold.
“I’m ‘The Five-Star Athlete,’ the most naturally gifted woman in the National Wrestling Alliance today,” Ruthie Jay says. “I should be a champion, but instead I’ve been carrying around dead weight like La Rosa Negra.”
Joe Galli, lead broadcaster every Tuesday on NWA Powerrr, remains shocked that Jay turned on her long-time friend. He suggests she is blaming La Rosa Negra for her own shortcomings.
Over the last two years, Ruthie Jay has received multiple title opportunities, he points out. She’s competed for both NWA singles and tag gold, failing each time to clinch a signature win.
“Perhaps La Rosa Negra played a role in Caribbean Flow not winning the NWA Women’s World Tag Team Titles,” admits Galli.
“But how did their friendship prevent Ruthie Jay from capitalizing on all the other title shots she’s received?” he asks. “Those losses are Ruthie’s alone!”
“His opinion would mean a lot more if I cared what he thinks of me,” she replies dismissively. “But in case it’s not clear, the only person I have to make happy now is Ruthie Jay.”
According to the talented young wrestler, her people-pleasing days are over. Turning this corner only makes her more determined to succeed in the NWA.
“Now that I’m putting myself first, I will be a National Wrestling Alliance champion!” Jay states.
“No more worrying about fans; no more carrying La Rosa Negra on my back!” she declares. “The only person I have to worry about now is Ruthie Jay, The Five-Star Athlete!”
