'NWA vs. FTW Showdown' Sees NWA National, TNA Digital Media Titles Defended
The National Wrestling Alliance continues to bring together pro wrestling’s best talent through its ongoing territory expansion.
On June 21, NWA vs. FTW Showdown brought top names from the NWA, territory affiliate Fight the World Wrestling, and beyond to Lake City, FL, for a multi-company clash. The event saw stars from across the pro wrestling landscape pitted against one another with championship implications.
In one half of the co-main event, Thom Latimer successfully defended the NWA National title against top FTW contender The Real Drago. Additionally, AJ Francis clashed with Alex Misery in an exciting inter-promotional match. The TNA Digital Media Champion bested the rising NWA star to retain his title. Also on the card, Natalia Markova survived triple-threat action to remain the FTW Women’s champion.
“The NWA is dedicated to expanding its reach by partnering with top independent promotions in pro wrestling hotbeds across the country and around the world,” says NWA’s Chief Operating Officer Joe Galli of multi-party events like Showdown.
“This is part of a concerted effort to not only pay homage to the history, legacy, and tradition of the National Wrestling Alliance,” Galli continues, “but also bring our fans the most exciting in-ring action and widest array of established and up-and-coming talents in pro wrestling today.”
The NWA’s return to a traditional “territory system” exploded in 2023, which saw the company quickly add three new promotions to its storied legacy. Ohio-based Exodus Pro (NWA Exodus Pro Midwest) was the first new regional promotion to fall under the NWA’s legendary banner, followed quickly by Tennessee’s Joe Cazana Promotions (NWA-JCP Southeast). NWA Chicago followed suit with Tennessee-focused Kross Fire Wrestling joining in early 2024.
The NWA also has ongoing relationships with companies across the U.S. Fight the World Wrestling, headed by NWA star and National Promoter Bryan Idol, has a stronghold in Florida. Missouri’s World League Wrestling, founded by multiple-time NWA World’s Champion Harley Race, has frequently collaborated and was represented at NWA’s recent Back to the Territories Signature Live Event and television taping as well.
