NWA's Max the Impaler to Star in Upcoming Horror Film
After Running Rampant As National Wrestling Alliance World Television Champion, Max The Impaler Prepares To Jump To The Big Screen.
Variety reports production has wrapped on Dolly, an upcoming horror film featuring National Wrestling Alliance star Max the Impaler.
”The Non-Binary Nightmare” portrays the title character in this latest project from writer-director Rod Blackhurst. The Emmy and Critics Choice nominee’s Dolly centers on “Macy, a young woman abducted by a deranged, monster-like figure who wants to raise her as their child.”
Blackhurst is best known for directing the 2016 Netflix original Amanda Knox. The award-winning documentary dives into the life of an American exchange student twice convicted and acquitted of killing another exchange student in Italy. Blackhurst won additional praise for narrative film Here Alone, a 2016 Tribeca Film Festival favorite, and penned recent feature Night Swim.
“We made Dolly as an elegant and twisted fairytale born out of a deep love of genre films and wanting to see something insane that 13-year-old Rod would want to watch,” the filmmaker told Variety. “This film is a renewed investment in our ethos as filmmakers and our proud tribe of misfits.”
Reigning NWA World TV and Women’s TV champion Max the Impaler stars as ‘Dolly.” Seann William Scott, “Steve Stiffler” of the American Pie franchise, costars as do Fabianne Therese, Ethan Suplee (The Wolf of Wallstreet) and more.
A release date for the film has not yet been scheduled. Read more in Variety.
