NWA Announces World League Wrestling As An Official Territory

The National Wrestling Alliance territory expansion continues!

Today the NWA announces NWA World League Wrestling as its latest official partner territory. The fifth regional promotion to join NWA in the last two years, Missouri-based WLW was founded a quarter-century ago by late NWA legend Harley Race.

“When you thought of NWA back in the day, you thought of Harley Race. It was a company had a lot of pride and respect for,” says reigning NWA World Tag Team champion Trevor Murdoch.

A two-time NWA World’s Champion, Murdoch’s career started in WLW under Race, one of the most decorated wrestlers in NWA history. He acted as a liaison in negotiations to bring WLW under NWA’s banner.

“As the student of Harley Race and representative of him throughout my career, it feels good that I can do this for World League Wrestling and bring these two together,” shares Murdoch.

Now an official territory, the National Wrestling Alliance formally recognizes all NWA WLW champions. Additionally, a talent-sharing agreement will benefit both promotions, asserts Murdoch.

Two-time former NWA World’s Champion Trevor Murdoch shares on the National Wrestling Alliance naming World League Wrestling an official territory.

“We are going to be a developmental system for the NWA to find some of the top, young talents that have not been seen, that might not be getting opportunities they deserve,” Murdoch notes.

“This is an opportunity, too, for World League Wrestling wrestlers to work with talent from the NWA,” he continues.

“The NWA is going to bring some of the best wrestlers in the world to World League Wrestling," Murdoch points out. "If these future stars want to make their mark in this business, they’ll have their opportunities against the best the NWA has to offer.”

Murdoch points out the partnership offers young talents the chance to learn from veterans like Aron Stevens and reigning NWA World’s champion Thom Latimer. Additionally, he says, WLW wrestlers will now be seen by National Wrestling Alliance owner and President William Patrick Corgan.

WLW has long attracted top names in pro wrestling, says Murdoch, pointing to past agreements with legends like “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Meng/Haku and more. The new partnership with NWA, he asserts, is a major step toward cementing its founder’s vision.

“To take a company Harley built from the ground up with the next generation of wrestlers, and 25 years later become part of the NWA brand, is a testament to what Harley was trying to do in the world of pro wrestling,” he states.

“WLW is a company that has a heritage, a lineage, a depth, all built by the eight-time World’s Heavyweight champion and through his eyes,” Murdoch concludes. “By becoming an official NWA territory, we’re taking his idea, his vision and bringing it to the next generation and taking it to the next level so the world can see it.”
