World's Champion EC3 Speculates on Possible 'NWA 76' Opponent

With the National Wrestling Alliance celebrating its anniversary in mere weeks, World’s Heavyweight Champion EC3 still doesn’t know his NWA 76 opponent.

That doesn’t stop “The Over Man” from speculating. The champ suspects he knows exactly who he will face at NWA 76, the company’s biggest Signature Live Event of the year August 31 at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

“I fully bank on and expect it to be Thom Latimer,” says EC3 in an interview exclusive to NationalWrestlingAlliance.com.

“Thom and I have a very, very interesting past,” the champion continues, “And I fully believe he’ll cash in the National Championship for a shot at the World’s Heavyweight title at NWA 76.

The assertion that Latimer and EC3 have a “very interesting past” is understatement. Upon his NWA debut, the current World’s champion immediately targeted Latimer. The rivalry has continued for years, with the two facing one-another multiple times.

Perhaps the most notable encounter was last October in Cleveland, OH. At the inaugural Samhain, Latimer “cashed in” the World Television title’s “Lucky 7” clause, granting him a shot at EC3 and the “Ten Pounds of Gold.” In that battle, Latimer nearly captured the title, but was cost victory by a returning Matt Cardona.

“It was not exactly the victory I wanted,” EC3 admits, “But it was victory nonetheless. Thom Latimer simply cannot beat me.”

Circumstances are quite different for Latimer now though. As the reigning NWA National Champion, the Brit has racked up an impressive string of victories which alone would seemingly earn him a return match with the World’s champ.

However, a master of mental manipulation, EC3 says he will not make it so easy for Latimer. Rather than granting a title match, the World’s champion indicates he might insist his long-time nemesis do the one thing he said he would not do — relinquish the National title for another shot at “Sweet Charlotte” August 31 in Philly.

“Thom has been so outspoken about rebuilding both the National title and himself,” EC3 says with a wry grin.

“Does he want the World’s title enough to look like a hypocrite and ‘cash in’ like I did?” the arrogant champ asks almost rhetorically. “Does Thom Latimer believe in himself enough to give up everything again just for another opportunity to be NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion?”
