New NWA Women's TV Champion Crowned in Chicago
The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA®) has a new Women’s Television Champion — and the winner has taken nearly everyone by surprise!
Big Mama captured the vacant title at NWA-Chicago’s Super Smashing Halloween. In what can only be considered an upset, she took home her first NWA championship in an Oct. 18 fatal four-way.
“This is the second time in recent memory when a seasoned veteran familiar to NWA® audiences picked up unexpected, career-defining title wins,” said NWA® Chief Operating Officer Joe Galli of Big Mama’s victory.
“Jeremiah Plunkett won the revived NWA Mid-America title at Back to the Territories,” he continued, “Now Big Mama — who has been wrestling nearly 15 years — is the NWA Women’s TV champion!”
The NWA Women’s TV title was last held by Max the Impaler. “The Non-Binary Nightmare” relinquished the belt ahead of their NWA 76 Women’s World title match with champion Kenzie Paige.
That same night, Big Mama competed in the Burke Invitational Gauntlet. Despite an impressive showing, she fell short of winning the fourth-annual event to crown a new No. 1 contender to the Women’s title.
Big Mama defeated Natalia Markova at NWA-Chicago ‘Super Smashing Halloween’ to become the new NWA Women’s TV Champion.
She entered the weekend’s title clash as a dark horse as well. However, luck was on the Cincinnati native’s side in Highland Park, IL. There Big Mama defeated “La Princesa” Tiffany Nieves and “HollyHood” Haley J, pinning 2024 Burke Invitational winner Natalia Markova to become champion.
The historic moment marks the second time NWA® gold changed hands at an NWA-Chicago live event. Alex Taylor captured the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship there in June. NWA National Promoter Bryan Idol loves such surprises.
