Former WWE Tag Champion Mike Mondo Debuts Tuesday on ‘NWA Powerrr’
A former WWE World Tag Team and multi-time Ohio Valley Wrestling champion has arrived in the National Wrestling Alliance. Twenty-year pro wrestling veteran Mike Mondo makes his his NWA® debut on this week’s NWA Powerrr.
“Mike is in incredible shape and a time-tested competitor in this business,” says NWA® National Promoter Bryan Idol, who arranged a meeting between Mondo and NWA President and owner William Patrick Corgan..
Mondo made his in-ring debut at a recent round of NWA Powerrr TV tapings in Tampa, FL. The star appears confident in the decision, proudly boasting about his NWA® debut across social media.
“This is MY sandbox and this is where I play,” he bragged in a post to X (formerly Twitter) showing him inside an NWA® ring for the first time.
The National Wrestling Alliance is the latest stop in a pro wrestling career which started more than two decades ago as a standout in the Northeastern United States. From there Mondo entered Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he feuded with future NWA World’s champion Brent Albright and many others.
While there, Mondo forged an alliance with Nic Nemeth and others, with whom he eventually captured the WWE World Tag Team Titles. As The Spirit Squad, he held the belts for seven months.
During his career, Mondo has been a standout in multiple promotions. In addition to winning nearly every championship in OVW, he’s been a top contender in Chikara, Ring of Honor and Major League Wrestling.
“The National Wrestling Alliance continues to attract not only pro wrestling’s most promising young talents but also veterans like Mike Mondo,” says Idol.
On Jan. 7, “It’s Gut Check Time!” for Mondo. He makes his first appearance on this week’s episode of NWA Powerrr, the National Wrestling Alliance’s weekly flagship streaming worldwide on the company’s X (former Twitter) account. He sees action against NWA up-and-comer Boz.
Also on the episode, The Colóns face The Immortals. The former U.S. Tag Team Champions are the toughest test the world-traveled Primo & Epico have faced since joining the National Wrestling Alliance.
“Whether it’s Mondo or The Colóns on NWA Powerrr, it’s a reminder why you can never miss one of the exciting NWA® live events,” Idol concludes. “You never know who might show up!”
Mondo is scheduled to appear Jan. 11 when NWA SHOCKWAVE electrifies the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. The NWA Signature Live event brings hard-hitting pro wrestling action to The OC Theatre in Forney, TX. Tickets are on sale now.
