From the Desk of…
An Island in the Stream
Weeks before the pandemic brought the world to a screeching halt, the first person I knew was diagnosed with Covid.
Having just moved into a new apartment days before, my friend’s cable was connected, but he’d not yet bought a television. Realizing he would be quarantined for a minimum of two weeks, I took the TV off my wall and dropped it at his doorstep.
That day in 2021 was the last I had a television — or cable — in my house. I haven’t missed either one bit. I’d already stopped watching traditional television. Even then, all my favorite programs were accessible via streaming services and web-based applications from my laptop or even phone.
In the years since, platforms like Netflix, Hulu Peacock and many others have dominated the broadcast industry. Their content now even qualifies for Emmy Awards previously reserved exclusively for televised content.
That’s why it’s so confusing when anyone fails to be enthused about NWA Powerrr joining The CW. Through its streaming partnership with The CW, the flagship program of the National Wrestling Alliance is available each Tuesday, right next to many of the most viewed television series in the world today.
The platform offers fans the highest production values — crisper colors, clearer picture quality, better sound — and in-ring action of the Lightning One Era. Sweetening the deal is NWA’s move to include Signature Live Events like The Crockett Cup and NWA 76 on future CW episodes.
NWA Powerrr can be streamed using the very internet access which allows you to read this article or download the issue of NWA Official Wrestling it accompanies. Best yet, all are free-of-charge, no cable fees or subscription required!
